workshop 2: the 5 tibetan rites
enjoy a wonderful Guided Meditation and a look at the 5 tibetan rites. these sacred rites hold the key to the fountain of youth, health, strength and longevity. the second workshop runs from 3:30 - 4:30 pm, and the cost is $10.

ashtanga intro course ii wednesdays, beginning january 6 & march 10
in this six week course, we will explore the second half of primary series through detailed breakdowns of each posture, suggestions for modifications, and time for conversation and questions. this is an opportunity for students who have been practicing half primary series for at least six months to challenge themselves to build a stronger practice, and to learn new postures in a supportive environment. this will be a registered session of progressive classes, each one building on the next. by the end of the six weeks, students should have a basic understanding of each of the postures in the primary series and be able to follow along through a full primary led class at a level that is appropriate for them. although this course will replace our wednesday 5:30 pm ashtanga 1 for the next few months, we ask that students do register and attend consistently rather than dropping in now and again. to register for this class, contact us by phone or email.
prenatal yoga thursdays, beginning january 7 & march 4
prenatal yoga helps women learn how to balance the strength required for the physical demands of labour with the relaxation required to have an empowering birth. this eight week course focuses on preventing and relieving discomfort during pregnancy, preparing for labour and birth, as well as techniques for reconditioning after birth. the integration of therapeutic poses and exercises with various breathing techniques and meditation will help you connect with your baby and develop confidence for birth.

mom & baby yoga thursdays, beginning january 7 & march 4
mom & baby yoga is a class for postpartum mothers to re-establish core strength, release stress, and rebuild alignment that may be weakened by pregnancy, while creating a stimulating and playful environment for baby. babies from four weeks through crawling are welcome to participate with their moms in age appropriate stimulation exercises while being integrated into an asana and breathing practice. giving mothers a new appreciation for their babies' developing awareness and reawakening the new mothers' sense of connection with her body, mom & baby yoga classes integrate yoga with playtime. to register for this class, contact us by phone or email with your name, contact information, and due date.
thursday morning ashtanga group thursdays, from 8:00 - 9:30 am
this is an open practice time for any ashtanga students who miss morning mysores. although no teacher is present, you may join other students as each person practices at their own pace, completing as much of the series as they wish. to participate, contact shanna.
introduce yourself to ashtanga yoga our six-week introductory courses to ashtanga yoga also include access to all of our mysore classes, for just $80. click here for details. yin/yang yoga workshop when: sunday, october 18th, 2:00 - 4:00 pm do you suffer from chronic back pain? tight hips? discover how to relieve these symptoms for good through a balanced approach to yoga practice. learn why students who practice a yang, or active style of yoga such as ashtanga, vinyasa flow or power yoga may not be reaching their full potential, while those that choose a yin, or passive approach to their practice may also be missing out on the full depth of the benefits their practice has to offer. how: in this workshop we will explore in detail the theory behind both styles of practice, including the difference between working the muscles, bones, tendons or ligaments. learn what it means to stretch your joints in a safe and healthy way and how this can increase your overall flexibility. discover how this can lead to a greater range of motion in postures that many students may have struggled with in their active practice for years. this will be a full two hour practice combining both styles and concluding with a short meditation to illustrate the release and opening of the hips which allows for comfort in seated poses. although some prior experience with ashtanga or yin yoga would be useful, it is not required. who: siobhan mcauley has taught yoga in both the us and canada for over ten years. her initial training was at the kripalu center in lennox, massachusetts, where she spent two years living as a sabbatical resident. in 2003, siobhan founded green tara yoga, key west's first full service yoga studio. siobhan has had the opprotunity to study with many of today's foremost teachers. among those who have influenced her style of teaching greatly have been angela farmer, sarah powers and aadil palkhivala. currently siobhan teaches and practices both ashtanga and yin yoga at path yoga in kingston, ontario. |
